India bans Chinese apps. According to the Indian government, they are baning 59 apps including TikTok.This is a result of India and China’s tension between borders in Kashmir. According to the Indian government, these apps were “engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, and security of the state and public order”.
India is the biggest market of Tiktok and ByteDance. This ban is a huge set back for many Chinese companies, they a losing a billion customers over this ban. The video call app from Xiaomi, which is the biggest smartphone vendor in India is also banned. Uc browser, UC news including TikTok and 59 other Apps are ban.
According to an Indian government agency “The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has also received many representations from citizens regarding the security of data and breach of privacy impacting upon public order issues”

All of these apps are currently working on the google play store and the ios app store. According to the Indian government “many complaints from various sources including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India.”
The Indian government bans these apps as a result of tension between the neighboring countries. This bans is not good for the people of India as many Indian businesses are running through Chinese apps.
